Dashboard

The dashboard provides you with real-time system health and resource usage. It

displays key metrics through visual charts. This helps you quickly gain insights into the overall cloud environment status and identify potential issues in time, improving daily management efficiency.

Procedure

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Dashboard.

  2. In the Healthiness area, you can view the host health state.

  3. In the alarm center area, you can check for any active alarms, including alarms of the critical, major, minor, and tip severity levels. If alarms exist, click More to access the real-time alarm management page.

  4. You can view system resource usage on this page. a. To gain insights into resource assignment and usage, check the CPU allocation ratio, memory allocation ratio, and shared storage allocation ratio. b. To determine the asset scale, check the host, and VM statistics. c. To identify the devices with the highest resource consumption and perform optimization or expansion, check the cluster I/O throughput top 5, host top 5, and VM top 5 lists.

  5. The right side of the page provides quick access to VM operations, allowing you to execute related operations quickly.

  6. To display the dashboard in full screen mode, click in the upper right corner.

Parameters

• Healthiness: Displays the overall health status of the system. It is the average value of the health across all hosts in the system.

• Host Health: Displays the number of healthy, suboptimal health, and unhealthy hosts in the current system.

○ Healthy: Displays the number of hosts in healthy state in the current system.

○ Suboptimal Health: Displays the number of hosts in suboptimal health state in the current system.

○ Unhealthy: Displays the number of hosts in unhealthy state in the current system.

• Total: Displays the total number of alarms generated by the system. Only details about the top 5 alarms with the critical and major levels are displayed.

• CPU Allocation Ratio (%): Ratio of CPU cores assigned to VMs to the total number of CPU cores on all hosts in the system.

○ Host: Total number of CPU cores on all hosts in the system.

○ VM: Total number of CPU cores for all VMs in the system.

• Memory Allocation Ratio (%): Ratio of memory assigned to VMs to the total memory size of all hosts in the system.

○ Host: Total memory size of all hosts in the system.

○ VM: Total memory size of all VMs in the system.

• Shared Storage Allocation Ratio: Usage of shared storage on hosts in a cluster. This is the total shared storage capacity assigned to VMs as a percentage of the total shared storage size of the hosts. Use the data from the management platform as a reference. Do not use the output value from the df -h command.

○ Total: Sum of the shared storage capacity for all clusters in the system.

○ Available: Total available shared storage capacity for all clusters in the system.

• VMs: Total number of VMs in the system and the numbers of VMs in different states, including normal, shutdown, and abnormal. The name of this field is displayed as VM Statistics in full screen mode.

• Hosts: Total number of hosts, and the numbers of hosts in different states, including normal, maintain, quarantine, and abnormal.

• Storage Cluster I/O Throughput / IOPS: This curve chart displays the storage cluster's IOPS (the number of I/O requests per second) or I/O throughput (data transmission rate) trend over the past 20 minutes. To view specific values at a specific time point, hover over that time point. Select the I/O Throughput or IOPS option to view the corresponding information.

• Top 5 Hosts: The five hosts with the highest resource usage by CPU, and memory in the system. To view the details of a host, click its name. To switch between the respective Top 5 lists, select the CPU, or Memory option.

• Top 5 VMs: The five VMs with the highest resource usage by CPU, disk, network, and memory. To view the details of a VM, click its name. To switch between the respective Top 5 lists, select the CPU, Memory, Disk or Network, option.

• Top 5 Shared Storage Pools by IOPS: IOPS trend chart for the five shared storage pools with the highest IOPS in the system. This parameter is displayed only in full screen mode.

• Top 5 Shared Storage Pools by I/O Latency: I/O latency trend chart for the five shared storage pools with the highest I/O latency in the system. This parameter is displayed only in full screen mode.

Configure host health settings

In host health settings, you can configure thresholds for determining abnormal host status. The system triggers an alarm when a host meets or exceeds the set threshold. If the status of a host is abnormal, the health score of that host is 0. The threshold settings will not be counted in calculation of the host's health score.

  1. On the top navigation bar, click Dashboard.

  2. In the Host Health area, click to open the Host Health Threshold Settings dialog box.

    ○ Host Health: Displays the health score of a CVK host, including host CPU health, memory health, storage health, network health, and host health. The following are the methods for calculating health scores:

    ▪ CPU Health: If the host CPU usage is greater than 80%, the CPU health score is 0 to 50. If the host CPU usage is in the range of 60% to 80%, the CPU health score is 51 to 80. If the host CPU usage is lower than 60%, the CPU health score is 81 to 100.

    ▪ Memory Health: If the host memory usage is greater than 80%, the memory health score is 0 to 50. If the host memory usage is in the range of 60% to 80%, the memory health score is 51 to 80. If the host memory usage is lower than 60%, the memory health score is 81 to 100.

    ▪ Storage Health: If the host storage usage is greater than 80%, the storage health score is 0 to 50. If the host storage usage is in the range of 60% to 80%, the storage health score is 51 to 80. If the host storage usage is lower than 60%, the storage health score is 81 to 100.

    ▪ Network Health: If the host network throughput is greater than 1024 Mbps, the network health score is 0 to 50. If the host network throughput is in the range of 500 to 1024 Mbps, the network health score is 51 to 80. If the host network throughput is less than 500 Mbps, the network health score is 81 to 100.

○ Host Health: Host health score = CPU health score * 30% + memory health score * 40% + storage health score * 15% + network health score * 15%.

○ CPU Usage: The most recent CPU usage value obtained from host performance monitoring.

○ Memory Usage: The most recent memory usage value obtained from host performance monitoring.

○ Storage Usage: Disk usage for a host. This is the max. disk usage value among all disks obtained during the most recent host performance monitoring.

○ Network Usage: Ratio of the total throughput of all NICs on a host to the total bandwidth of all vSwitches attached to that host.

  1. Click OK.
