Add objects for a tag
Perform this task to add clusters, hosts, and VMs in the system as objects to existing tags for efficient management and access to relevant resources, enhancing management efficiency. When you add objects, you can select All to add clusters, hosts, and VMs in bulk or one by one as objects, or select Clusters, Hosts, or VMs to add objects by resource type in bulk or one by one.
-
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
-
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Tags. The Tag Management tab is displayed by default.
-
Select the target tag, and then click Add Objects on top of the object list.

Manage cloud rainbows
Cloud rainbow, acting as a bridge for inter-cloud resource sharing, allows for resource sharing
between cloud resources of the current management platform and those of other management platforms. It enables online VM migration between management platforms without service interruption. Cloud rainbow management allows you to add, edit, and delete cloud resources, and migrate VMs between management platforms.
Prerequisites
• The source and destination hosts for a VM migration must use IP addresses of the same IP protocol version to join their clusters.
• For successful migration of a VM the data cache mode of which is None or Directsync and the disk of which is in an NFS, shut down the VM before migration.
Restrictions and guidelines
• When you migrate a VM between management platforms, if the version of the destination management platform is lower than that of the source management platform, the VMPtools version of the VM remains unchanged. This does not affect the feature and no action is required.
• Do not connect hosts to a management platform during VM migration between the management platforms.
• VMs that use encrypted disks do not support cloud rainbow-based online migration.
• The timeout timer for rainbow-based online migration should be 3 days.
• If the target CVK does not support multi-queue acceleration, disable multi-queue acceleration for VMs before you perform cloud rainbow-based migration.
Add a cloud resource
-
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
-
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Cloud Rainbow.
-
Before you add a cloud resource for the first time, configure the local cloud resource. Click the icon in the right of the page.
-
Click OK.
-
Enter the local cloud resource name and IP address, select a login mode (HTTP or HTTPS), enter a port number, and then click OK.
-
Click the icon in the right of the page.
-
Enter the remote cloud resource name, description, and IP address, select a login mode (HTTP or HTTPS), and enter the default port number and username and password.
-
Click OK.
Edit a cloud resource
-
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
-
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Cloud Rainbow.
-
Click the icon for a cloud resource.
-
Click Configure Cloud Resource.
-
Configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."
-
Click OK.
Delete a cloud resource
-
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
-
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Cloud Rainbow.
-
Click the icon for a cloud resource.
-
In the dialog box that opens, click OK.
Migrate VMs between management platforms
-
On the top navigation bar, click Ops.
-
From the left navigation pane, select Service Ops > Cloud Rainbow.
-
Enter the name of the target VM and then press Enter, or double-click a host. All VMs on the host will be displayed.
-
Drag the VM to the target host.
• When you use the cloud rainbow migration function to migrate a VM in a version earlier than E0920, ensure that there are no VMs with the same name in tasks that are being executed simultaneously.
• When migrating a VM from a higher-version management platform (Cloud Rainbow) to a lower-version management platform, only offline migration is supported. If online migration is required, the target management platform must be upgraded to the same as or a higher version than the source platform.
• Before VM migration, identify whether the destination host name is the same as any host name in the cluster of the source management platform. If yes, rename the destination host before migration.
-
In the dialog box that opens, configure the parameters as described in "Parameters."
-
Click OK.
Parameters
• Cloud Resource Node: Click to view information about a cloud resource.
• Cluster Node: Click to view information about a cluster.
• Host Node: Click to view information about a host.
• Timeout: Set the migration timeout timer, which specifies the maximum running time for the VM migration task. The migration task is canceled automatically when the migration timeout timer expires.
• Migration Policy: Select a migration policy.
○ Migration First: This policy can speed up VM migration. However, using this policy might cause VM I/O failure if VMs are busy. As a best practice, use this policy when VMs are relatively idle.
○ Service First: This policy prioritizes protecting VM service stability during migration and features slow VM migration. As a best practice, use this policy when VMs are busy.
• Migration Rate Limit Policy: Select a migration rate limit policy.
○ Auto: The system tunes the migration speed automatically based on the service latency of VMs.
○ Custom: You manually set the migration speed for VMs.
• Migration Speed: Set the storage data migration speed. This parameter is required only when you select Service First for the Migration Policy field and Custom for the Migration Rate Limit Policy field.
